Provenance:
Ipolyi collection, not identified with any certainty. ‘242. The Crucifixion. In the manner of 16th-century Germany masters.’ (Lakatos-Balla 293)—or: ‘247. Crucifixion with multiple figures, in the manner of the early 16th century. Imitating Netherlandish painting. Panel.’ (Lakatos-Balla 283) or ‘No number. Crucifixion, multi-figural. Oil painting on panel. 16th. c. strongly overpainted. Panel.’ (Lakatos-Balla 281).

Restoration:
1958-59. Dezső Varga (As the picture was being cleaned, traces of earlier cleaning attempts and numerous patches of overpainting on the faces and drapery were registered. In areas of paint loss and along cracks, infilling and retouches were done.
