The back of the statue of the Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus in St. Anne’s lap was roughly carved in the upper part. The lower part, however, is smooth, creating a suitable attachment surface. Several layers of overpaint can be distinguished on the surface. The child’s right arm is missing. Two corners of the base are replacements.
